A Simple Intention Practice…

Dec 11, 2025

In a world buzzing with the notion of intention, where every suggestion seems to promise a path to clarity and purpose, I’ve stumbled upon a beautifully SIMPLE practice that has profoundly impacted my day-to-day life. It’s so straightforward and so powerful, I am excited to share it with you!

Leave your yoga mat out where you can see it every day.

Recently, I filled an entire page in my gratitude journal dedicated solely to my yoga mat, an object that has been a steadfast companion through thick and thin for the past five years. After a short morning yoga ritual, a wave of appreciation washed over me as I reflected on how integral this mat has been in my journey towards living with more intention.

I am so grateful for this humble yoga mat of mine.

She has been ignored and she has been cherished. She has been rolled up and packed around. She has been covered with wet grass in the yard. She has been laid on wood chips in a flower garden. She has been in dirt on a trail and out in a field. She has been on a dirty gym floor. She has traveled to various airbnbs and once across the boarder to Canada.

She has been covered in sweat, yoga isn’t all peace and zen my friend it can be a real sweaty endeavor! She has soaked up countless tears. She has braved many many face plants. She softens my fall when I tip over, which happens a lot. She tells a story of perseverance, inner strength and growth. She has held both grief and joy.

The minute I step onto her I am instantly reminded to slow down and be intentional with my breath, with my movement. To simply be present in the moment. To quiet the mind and breathe into the body. Even on the days I just walk by her or step over her or simply sit and look at her, she serves as a gentle reminder urging me to be present.

In this busy world, she tells me to quiet my mind, breathe, and simply exist.

My mat encourages me to explore my boundaries—pushing me to discover my edges—while also reminding me that rest is not something to be earned but a vital part of my journey. She provides a steadfast foundation for whatever I need in any moment. With her quiet strength, she embodies resilience, teaching me to take up space and embrace my vulnerabilities. Falling—and the inevitable stumbles of life—becomes less daunting and more of a playful reminder not to take everything so seriously. She reminds me to laugh and to try again.

What amazes me most is her unwavering support.

She always welcomes me back without judgment, no matter how much time has passed since our last encounter. She reflects my growth and reminds me of my journey—how far I’ve come, who I am becoming, and the challenges I’ve faced. She offers me both a grounding place to lay my head and a gentle nudge to rise again.

By choosing to keep my mat visible each day, I cultivate a continuous practice of intention.

It’s a simple yet profound act that inspires me to live with purpose and connection in the wild, unpredictable tapestry of life. I hope my story encourages you to enhance your own intention practice. Remember, it doesn’t have to be complicated; sometimes, the simplest practices hold the greatest power.

Until next time my friend. I cherish you and I am celebrating you!
